FC 27 will launch on September 25th. Ultimate Plus and Ultimate Edition players will have early access to the game a week early.
To truly enjoy FC 27, the most important thing isn't immediately finding the so-called strongest meta, but learning when to defend, when to press, and when to forgo a forced attack.
Don't chase every ball
I think my biggest adjustment in FC 27 was defense. When playing FC, I often controlled a defender to chase down attacking players and constantly press the tackle button. But in EA's Closed Beta Feedback Update, I felt this defensive approach easily led to confusion.
Therefore, to build a better defensive line, first stick to the attacking player, try to block their passing lanes, and then tackle after they make a mistake. Sometimes, simply being in the right position is more effective than rushing in for the ball.
The same applies to Team Press. Don't rely too much on it for defense near your own penalty area. Only control the defenders and protect the space in front of the penalty area once the opponent has truly entered the danger zone.
Don't buy players solely based on one Meta attribute
When building your squad, don't buy a player simply because they have a popular AcceleRATE rating. Speed is important, of course, but consider whether the player's overall performance suits your playing style. When comparing players, consider:
If you like fast counter-attacks, speed and acceleration are crucial. If you prefer slow ball control, passing, positioning, and teamwork might be more important.
Therefore, sometimes a player with a slightly lower overall rating but who fits your playing style can provide a better actual experience.
Player Lock is worth trying
Player Lock is, in my opinion, a feature in FC 27 worth spending time learning. It takes some getting used to at first because you need to consider both the player with the ball and the player you control off the ball.
But once you get used to it, I think it can help create unexpected space for the opponent in attack. However, it's not recommended to use Player Lock in every attack. A better approach is to practice it first and then use it when the opponent's defense is dense and regular runs are unlikely to create opportunities.
Use FC 27 Coins to Prioritize Addressing Weaknesses
If you enjoy Ultimate Team, I think how you use FC 27 coins is crucial. Initially, it's easy to see a high-rated player and want to spend all your coins. But if I had to choose, I'd prefer to first identify the real problems in your lineup.
For example, if your forward line is strong enough, but your midfield's ability to create chances is poor, then buying an even more expensive striker doesn't make much sense.
Once you have enough
FC 27 Coins, test different players, formations, and Player Roles, rather than simply chasing the most expensive players.
The most expensive lineup isn't necessarily the best. The most valuable aspect of coins is that they give you more room to adjust and experiment.
The best way to get familiar with FC 27 is to play a few matches first, identify your weakest points, and then adjust accordingly. The same applies when building your Ultimate Team.
Use FC 27 Coins wisely, spending them on players who can truly solve your squad's problems, rather than simply buying names that look impressive.
This is how you build a FC 27 squad that truly suits you, not someone else's.
